Elkhart, Indiana (July 1st , 2010) -- Agdia, Inc., a leading provider of easy-to-use test kits for agricultural diagnostics, announces its release of the Phytophthora ImmunoStrip®, to its already expansive line of rapid and field-ready diagnostics.
The Phytophthora ImmunoStrip can quickly identify if a Phytophthora infection is present in a wide range of crops including vegetables, fruits, nursery stock and others. The test requires no laboratory equipment and can be completed anywhere, including right in the field. Running the test is as simple as extracting the sample in a mesh pouch (include in the kit) that is filled with a special extraction buffer, followed by inserting an ImmunoStrip into the plant extract. The test only takes 30 minutes to complete, however, positive results can typically be seen in as little as a few minutes.
Over 49 species of Phytophthora can be detected with the ImmunoStrip which enables a broad range of applications for the test including:
- Screening for P. infestans, the causal agent of late blight in tomato and potato.
- Screening for P. ramorum, the causal agent of sudden oak death (SOD), in nursery stock and forestry programs.
- Screening for P. capsici, the causal agent of leaf spot and blight in peppers.
The Phytophthora ImmunoStrip is ready for immediate sale and complements Agdia’s comprehensive portfolio of easy-to-use ImmunoStrips for detecting plant pathogens.
